Gal Gadot underwent emergency surgery for a brain blood clot while eight months pregnant

Gal Gadot was eight months pregnant with her daughter when she was diagnosed with a “massive blood clot” in her brain.

The “Wonder Woman” star shared an emotional post on social media detailing the “serious challenges and deep reflections” of this year, along with a photo from the hospital shortly after the birth of her baby girl.

Gadot, 39, kept her fourth pregnancy with husband Yaron Varsano a secret, announcing she had given birth to a daughter in a post shared online in March.

“In February, eight months into my pregnancy, I was diagnosed with a massive blood clot in my brain,” Gadot wrote. “For several weeks I was bedridden with excruciating headaches, but finally an MRI scan revealed the horrifying truth.

“In one moment, my family and I saw how fragile life is. We were made acutely aware of how quickly everything can change. In the midst of a difficult year, I realized how fragile life is. All I had to do was endure and survive.”

“We rushed to the hospital and had emergency surgery within hours. My daughter Oli was born in that moment of anxiety and fear. Her name means 'my light' was not chosen by chance.'' Before the surgery, I told Jaron that when my daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel. ”

Gadot thanked the team of doctors at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles for their “dedicated weeks of care.”

“I made it through and am on the road to recovery. I am now fully healed and grateful for the life I have been given,” she wrote.

Gadot and Varsano married in 2008 and also have daughters Alma, Maya, and Daniela.

This isn't the first time the actress has kept her pregnancy quiet. In 2017, Gadot told Marie Claire that she kept her second pregnancy a secret while filming Wonder Woman because she didn't want to be treated differently on set.

“I completely got rid of it,” she told the magazine. “I started coming to set wearing sunglasses. I was drinking a big jug of ginger. One of the producers kept asking, 'Why are you drinking that potato water?' ”They thought I had gone to Hollywood. ”
