Original ‘Star Wars’ Actor Angus MacInnes Dead at 77

Original Star Wars actor Angus McInnes died on December 23rd at the age of 77.

His death was confirmed by his family on social media.

The Facebook message began: “To all Angus fans around the world, it is with a heavy heart that I write this.” His family continued, “He left us peacefully, surrounded by family and love.”

They paid tribute to the talented actor by listing the many credits to his name. “Angus' career has spanned decades, including Star Wars: A New Hope (as gold leader John 'Dutch' Vander), The Witness, Judge Dredd, and Captain Phillips. He played unforgettable roles in films such as,” his family wrote.

The cause of the actor's death has not been disclosed.

“His work touched the lives of countless people and he took great pride in being part of these stories that continue to resonate with audiences around the world.”

McInnes' family talked about how much his fans meant to him and shared moments when the star got emotional while interacting with the public.

“For Angus, being a Star Wars fan held a special place in his heart. He loves meeting you at conventions, hearing your stories and sharing your passion for this story. ” they wrote.

“He was always humbled, delighted and honored by the admiration and passion of his fans and the tournament community.”

They went on to pay tribute to the famous actor, saying, “He was a kind, thoughtful, and generous soul who brought warmth and humor to the lives of everyone who knew him.”

McInnes' other credits include “Superman II,'' “John and Yoko: A Love Story,'' “Judge Dredd,'' “Eyes Wide Shut,'' “Hellboy,'' “Atlantic City,'' and “The Black Dahlia.'' .
