Earlier this year, Meghan McCain detailed the “horror” she felt when she found a lump in her breast and encouraged women to get mammograms. In a candid Instagram post she shared on Monday.
“Last week I had to have a biopsy of a mass in my breast and I just received the news that the test results were benign,” the media personality and journalist wrote in a typed statement. “Words can't express how blessed, lucky, and safe I am, but to all the women who follow this account and my work, please get your mammogram!!!”
She continued, “It's something so important and essential that I know so many of us put off. I'm 40 years old and this was scary for me. Please accept!!!”
“Doctors, nurses, pathologists, mammography coordinators, all of these people are nothing but selfless angels who walk among us. I am forever grateful to each and every one of our medical professionals. ”
McCain concluded his warning post by adding, “Wishing you all a happy, blessed, and healthy New Year!” 🙏🏻🙏🏻♥️♥️. ”
McCain also encouraged women to get their annual Pap smears in the caption of his photo.
Her words resonated with her followers and even encouraged Bob Saget's widow, Kelly Rizzo. Reveals she underwent a 'horrifying' double biopsy last year.
She added: “I'm so glad you're all doing well, friends! So relieved to welcome the new year! 🙏🏼❤️.”
The former “View” co-host and Lizzo aren't the only celebrities to open up about scary health scares recently.
Earlier this month, Below Deck Down Under star Captain Jason Chambers revealed that melanoma was found on his skin after undergoing a sunspot biopsy.
'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' alum Teddi Mellencamp has been documenting her battle with melanoma since 2022, revealing that over the summer she underwent 16 surgeries to remove it. She also urged her followers to get their skin tested.
Serena Williams' husband and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian announced in November that he had undergone surgery for a “suspicious nodule” on his thyroid after four years of tracking.
That same month, “Full House” alum Dave Courier revealed he had been diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
In October, “The Office” star Jenna Fischer announced that she was diagnosed with stage 1 triple-positive breast cancer in December 2023.
In 2024, more than 2 million new cancer cases will be detected in the United States. According to cancer.org.
The most commonly diagnosed cancer was breast cancer.
