“Praying for New Orleans 🙏🏼 I woke up this morning and watched the news,” Kerr wrote.
Longtime Saints defensive end Cam Jordan also responded to the incident.
“I woke up to a text message last night about what happened on Bourbon Street, God bless you! It's a pure tragedy and I'm sorry to all the lives affected,” Jordan wrote I wrote this.
The driver was killed in a gunfight with police, during which two officers were shot.
“This guy was trying to run over as many people as possible,” said New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick.
It added that the driver was “desperate to cause carnage and damage”.
Police also found explosives at the scene.
Carr, 33, is in his second year with the Saints on a four-year, $150 million contract with $100 million guaranteed in 2023.
The four-time Pro Bowler went 9-8 as a starter last season, throwing for 3,878 yards, 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
He was limited to 10 games this season due to injury, throwing for 2,145 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions.
