CNN’s Pamela Brown Stunned by New Orleans Attack Witness: ‘I’m Speechless’

On Wednesday, CNN's “Newsroom” host Pamela Brown was visibly shaken by Jimmy Cothran's first-hand account of the New Year's Eve attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.

“Around 3:15 this morning, a friend and I were heading down the Lower Bourbon River towards the canal,” Cothran said. “We looked up at Crystal Berger and saw that there was a lot going on. , we immediately ran into the nightclub. And within two minutes of entering, four or five girls came running past security and grabbed Tee. Me and my friend lived here and were somewhat aware of what was being reported on the news, but we didn't take any risks. We ran to the second floor balcony area where we knew it was. And when we got there, there was no one following us. It was just an unimaginable casualty.

He continued: “So it's just the outward scars and the body that are strong. It's the invisible things. We'll never forget. We did have a mother at our feet. She was a mess, and obviously Eight bodies were immediately counted in our area. One of the crushed gentlemen had tire marks on his back. When they rolled him over, there was a tire mark in front of him and he was completely crushed. As we approached the street, another little girl was dancing. But she was completely flattened right in the middle. The other woman was brutally run over and is still suffering.

He added, “I'm certified in CPR and first responder training. They wouldn't let us help. They locked everything indoors, which is understandable. But there was no one else to help him. So it was even harder. But just the fact that these people are somebody and they're not there this morning, it's tough.”

Brown said: What you just described, I'm speechless. ”
