John Capodis, the actor known for his roles on “Ace Ventura'' and “Seinfeld,'' died Monday at the age of 83.
The actor's death was revealed in a New Jersey paper. Pizzi Funeral Home Websitedescribed Capodis as a “devoted husband, father, and grandfather.”
The eulogy added: “He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.”
The cause of death has not yet been announced.
The Chicago native appeared in a number of high-profile shows and movies during his decades-long career, including “Ace Ventura,” in which he co-starred with Jim Carrey.
In the 1994 hit film, Capodis played a police officer who belittles Carrie's pet detective.
The actor also appeared on “General Hospital” from 1994 to 1996, playing Carmine Cerullo in six episodes of the soap opera.
He also worked on “Seinfeld,” appearing in the seventh episode of the show's second season, “The Revenge.”
In this episode, he played Vic, a laundromat owner who had one of his machines destroyed with cement by Kramer after he and Jerry accused Vic of stealing money.
Born on Christmas Day 1941, Capodis served in the U.S. Forces Korea from 1964 to 1966. After returning home, he began his acting career in the late 1970s.
Capodis also boasted roles in “Wall Street,'' “The Doors,'' “Honeymoon in Vegas,'' and “Independence Day.''
He also appeared on “CSI,'' “Law & Order,'' “Will & Grace,'' “Melrose Place,'' “Mad About You,'' “Six Feet Under,'' “The West Wing,'' and “Murder, She Wrote.'' also appeared.
However, his first television appearance was on “Ryan's Hope,'' where he appeared in six episodes as Lloyd Lord.

Capodis is survived by his wife Jane, daughters Tessa De Piero and Cassandra Hansen, and four grandchildren, David, Jake, Frankie, and Juliana.
