New Orleans Police Superintendent Ann Kirkpatrick said in an interview with Today on Thursday that fans attending the game can expect “if not more” security than what is expected at next month's Super Bowl.

“We have a number of other partners,” Kirkpatrick said. Via ESPN. “Local police, federal police, military police and others will be here, hundreds of police officers and staff will be lining the streets, Bourbon Street, the French Quarter. So we're ramping up our personnel. We're at the same or higher level than what you were preparing for. [the] Super Bowl. ”

Superdome welcomes Sugar Bowl fans after terrorist attack in New Orleans

Local law enforcement, FBI personnel and trained dogs were dispatched to the stadium out of an abundance of caution.

Officials confirmed at a press conference Thursday that the suspect, Shamsuddin Jabbar, 42, was alone involved in the attack.

The FBI found a possible improvised explosive device (IED), weapons and an ISIS flag in the car of Jabbar, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Other potential IEDs were also discovered and recovered by authorities.

The Sugar Bowl was originally scheduled for 8:45 p.m. ET, but the start time was moved up to 4 p.m. ET on Thursday.

“Public safety is our top priority,” Sugar Bowl CEO Jeff Hundley said at a press conference Wednesday. “All parties agree that postponing the game is in the best interest of everyone and public safety.”
