Everything has changed for written-off Ohio State and Ryan Day

Everyone was writing obituaries. Predicting Ohio State's new coach. We call this group of Buckeyes a $20 million failure.

They had just lost an unthinkable game to rival Michigan in Columbus, Ohio, as 20.5-point favorites. Tennessee and its fans should have been looking to dominate the Horseshoe in the opening game of the expanded College Football Playoff.

A few weeks later everything changed. The day's work is now in jeopardy. No. 8 seed Ohio State looks set to win its first national championship in 10 years over No. 1 Oregon State. They treated Tennessee and Oregon like sparring partners, winning both playoff games by a combined score of 83-38.

Day deserves a lot of recognition. You always learn about a coach when your back is against the wall. The same goes for the players, hearing how much talent is being wasted.
