Some Fans ‘Will Never Forgive Me’ for Anti-Trump Tirades — ‘I Don’t Regret It’

Actor and comedian Jim Gaffigan acknowledged he alienated some fans by repeatedly attacking President-elect Donald Trump on social media over the years, but said he has “no regrets.” added.

“I'm sorry that people think I'm criticizing people who support Trump. And that was never my intention. I'm sorry, but I don't want anyone to be like, 'I can't follow you anymore.' So I was like, 'F you,' to those people,” the comedian said.

He later added: “I have no regrets, but I also acknowledge that there are some true die-hard Trump fans who probably enjoyed my comedy. But they feel so passionately that they will never forgive me.” Probably not.”

Gaffigan insisted that he didn't lose that many fans in the end.

“I can't say it was measurable. But there were definitely comments on social media, and I still get comments. My son is very funny. I would post something and my 18-year-old son would say, 'Trump. “I liked the president until he started using abusive language.” ”

For years, Gaffigan used his Twitter account to repeatedly criticize Trump.

Most notably, in 2020, Gaffigan had a nuclear meltdown after the Republican National Convention. The comedian posted more than 15 tweets calling the commander-in-chief a “fraud” and “rapist” and issuing five warnings.

“For those of you who think I'm ruining my career, wake up. If Trump gets elected, the economy will never come back,” he said in an epic tweet storm. Ta.

In an interview with The Daily Beast, Gaffigan also spoke about the criticism he received from the left for attending a recent Catholic Al Smith dinner in New York. President Trump attended the October event, but Kamala Harris declined.

“I was 'normalizing fascists,' right? I knew I was going to get criticism from both sides. I'm not a roast comedian. I mean, I love politics, but… We don't talk about it,” Gaffigan said.

“So I knew that if I made jokes about either side, there would be some backlash. But I also thought it would be worth it.”
