A Texas pastor shares a moving New Year's Day message: YouTube Last weekend, an EF-3 tornado with winds of 138 miles per hour capsized a fishing boat.
“God can see you in the storm,” Brian Johnson of First Baptist Church Winnie said in the video. “He can be trusted. He can be trusted.”
“Many of you may be in a storm, just coming out of a storm, or have a storm on the horizon.”
The harrowing ordeal began when Johnson, his dog, and a friend of Johnson's named Tony were fishing at Stanolind Reservoir on December 28th. KTRK TV reported. The reservoir is located about 10 minutes south of Winnie, and Winnie is about an hour east of Houston.
Johnson said in the video that he thought the air pressure was changing and that there would be “good fishing,” and that the storm appeared to be heading north.
However, both assumptions turned out to be wrong, and the tornado soon engulfed the fishing boat. Johnson's YouTube video documents how quickly the situation became life-threatening.
According to KTRK, Johnson and a friend tried to ride out the storm by anchoring their boat in the reeds, but the boat quickly capsized.
“I'm holding on to the boat because right now I'm holding on to it from below, and it's just the wind blowing,” Johnson later explained to the station. “And I thought, 'He's going to pull me out of this water any second.'” So I'm trying to hold on, but I can't find Tony, so I'm calling out for Tony, And now I'm thinking, “Oh my god, my friend drowned under this boat or something.'' “So I'm trying to pull or lift the boat, but I'm pounding the boat.'' I screamed loudly, but there was nothing. ”
Johnson's friend was found hiding under the boat, and Johnson and Johnson's dog were unharmed, KTRK reported.

Now, “the rest of the story”

But he also admitted to viewers that he didn't make good choices that Saturday, saying, “I made a bad decision that put me in the middle of the storm.”
But, Johnson added, God showed him a greater spiritual truth.
“My friends, let me tell you this: In life, we all make bad decisions. And in life, we all experience storms from time to time,” Johnson said. spoke. But I want you to know that even though it was my fault that I ended up here, God was with me through the storm. ”
He added, “Many of you are in a storm. Or maybe you're just coming out of one. Or maybe there's a storm on the horizon. We want you to know that… God sees you through the storm, whether it's your fault or not.'' “You can trust Him. He loves you so much that you can trust Him.'' If you do, he will give you eternal life.”
Prime Minister Johnson also said he believed this particular storm was ordained by God and that now “it's all about me being able to testify and bear witness to you.” [being] I was able to share with you how God saw me through the storm. ”
“It's not about me. It's about God,” he also said. “The God I serve is great and I love you, my friends…”
To end things, Johnson couldn't resist some practical advice: “As a side note, don't go fishing in a tornado.”
