JD Vance underwent ‘long-planned’ minor surgery after attending Senate swearing-in 

Vice President-elect J.D. Vance underwent a “long-planned” minor surgery Friday after appearing at the Capitol earlier in the day for the Senate swearing-in ceremony.

“The vice president-elect has undergone a long-planned minor sinus surgery and is expected to return to work tomorrow,” his spokesman William Martin said. told Fox News.

The surgery reportedly took place at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC.

Trump's transition team did not immediately respond to The Post's request for comment.

The medical procedure comes less than three weeks before President-elect Donald Trump is inaugurated on January 20 and Vance becomes vice president.

Vance, 40, will be the youngest vice president since Richard Nixon became president in 1953, also at age 40.

Mr. Vance is still a senator, but has not announced a date for his resignation from the Senate.

In that case, Republican Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine would be tasked with appointing Mr. Vance's replacement.

The appointee will hold the Senate seat until a special election is held in November.

The winner of this election will serve out the remainder of Vance's term, which ends in 2028.
