Rep. Virginia Foxx, 81, receives medical attention after falling on staircase at US Capitol

Republican Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-North Carolina) received attention after falling at the U.S. Capitol on Friday, Fox News has learned.

Foxx, who chairs the House Education Committee, reportedly fell on the steps on the Republican side of the Capitol shortly after the House voted to re-elect House Speaker Mike Johnson.

The lawmaker, 81, was bleeding after the incident and was being treated by medical personnel at the Capitol.

The deputy appeared to have a nosebleed, but it was unclear whether he was seriously injured.

Fox was seen walking after the incident and was reportedly being escorted to a medical room at the Capitol by medical personnel.

The lawmaker made a humorous post on social media, asserting that he was OK after the fall.

“Thank you everyone for your prayers. I'm fine, just a few scratches,” Fox wrote on X. ”
