You can also create emojis based on people in the Photos app, making your digital expressions more intimate and meaningful. This level of customization allows you to convey subtle emotions and situations that standard emojis cannot express.

Compatibility and availability
It's important to note that Genmoji is only available on iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models, or devices in the iPhone 16 lineup. This feature is part of Apple's recently released iOS 18.2 update.

Using Genmoji is incredibly easy.
- open Message app.
- start conversation.
- Tap. emoji icon It's located in the bottom left corner of the keyboard.
- next, emoji icon next to the text search bar
- In the search field, explain the source characters I'm thinking of making something that looks like a cat wearing a top hat.
- wait for the AI to do it Generate custom emoji.
- Swipe through the options to Choose your favorite.

To create a source character using a photo of a person from your gallery, follow these steps:

Ensure photo tagging
First, make sure the person you want to use is tagged in the Photos app. This is important for Genmoji creation. You can only use people who are already in your contacts. Ideal for sharp, front-facing photos where people's faces are clearly visible.
- open message.
- Tap. Emoji keyboard.
- Tap. Source character creation icon It's located at the top right of the keyboard.
Please select a person
- In the Source Character Description field, enter: person's name Exactly as tagged in your photo library.
- tap “Please choose someone.”
- Select. people From identified photo contacts.
- tap end.
Customize source characters

- Swipe to generated options to find the optimal expression.
