A suspected illegal immigrant made a fake bomb threat during a traffic stop in South Carolina Thursday, after authorities said a section of Interstate 85 was closed for nearly five hours. I was arrested.
According to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety (SCDPS), Ahmad Jamal Hameez Alhendi, 28, was stopped by State Traffic Police around 2:45 p.m. for a tractor-trailer with a missing license plate.
At the time, Arhendi told officers there was an explosive device inside the commercial vehicle.

All six lanes of Interstate 85 were then closed as the Greenville County Sheriff's Office, South Carolina Law Enforcement Department (SLED), and FBI investigated the threat.
The closure, which occurred near mile marker 44, caused significant delays and traffic jams.
The 18-wheeler was eventually removed and all lanes of I-85 were reopened around 7:40 p.m.
Alhendi appeared in court on Friday and was charged with making false information regarding bomb threats, high and aggravated breach of peace, and not having a vehicle license.

He was issued a total bond of $20,238 on all three charges and sent to the Greenville County Jail, Fox Carolina reported.
A spokesperson for the Greenville County Detention Center told Fox News Digital that Arhendi is in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and is being held as a possible illegal immigrant with the possibility of deportation. He said he had been notified.

Fox News Digital has reached out to ICE and the FBI for more information about Alhendi.
The tractor-trailer is registered to Grove Transportation in Illinois, SCDPS said.
A spokesperson for the company confirmed to Fox News Digital that Alhendi works for Globe Transportation, but the company did not issue any statement at the time.
