Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) said Sunday on CNN's “State of the Union” that President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Kash Patel to head the FBI despite the recent terrorist attacks in New Orleans. There was no need to rush the approval process. And Las Vegas.
The FBI is “very functional,” according to the Minnesota Democratic Party.
“In light of the terrorist attack in New Orleans, Trump allies are urging you and your colleagues in the Senate to move quickly to confirm the president-elect's national security team,” host Jake Tapper said. What do you say about your opposition to Kash Patel becoming FBI director, with Republicans arguing that delaying her confirmation would compromise operational security? Do you want to answer?”
“Right now we have a very functional FBI, we have an investigation in New Orleans, we have an investigation in Las Vegas, we're telling the public exactly what's going on,” Klobuchar said. I don't think so. I believe in our work. We just took the oath. We just swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. We have a duty to advise and agree. That's why many of our Republican colleagues in the Senate agree. And candidates for these very important security positions must be vetted by the FBI.”
She further added, “We need to know what their background is. We have to look at their financial disclosure forms. The next president has many We put billionaires into these jobs.”
