Jets owner Woody Johnson admitted that he read a recent article in The Athletic that painted him as a meddlesome owner and the Jets as a dysfunctional organization.
Mr Johnson said the article was “completely false”.
“I think this article is a classic defamatory article, but it has no basis in fact,” Johnson told the Post. “Nobody really stood up and put their name up for anything. That's just not true. Everything was taken out of context. When you're losing a game, it makes people think about your It gives you artistic license to do what you want.”
The article cited numerous anonymous sources about the Jets' situation and was particularly harsh on Johnson.
The newspaper also cited sources who said Johnson's teenage son Brick had influence over decisions made by his father and the team, which Johnson denied.
“He has no role within the organization,” Johnson said.

Johnson admitted that he takes his sons to learn business, just as his great-grandfather did when he ran Johnson & Johnson.
“In my family, my great-grandfather took my grandfather to meetings when he was a teenager,” Johnson said. “He was attending meetings wearing a suit. That's how you teach the next generation. That's what you do. It's an apprenticeship. Does he have decision-making power? Absolutely. No. No matter how you read it, you can't make decisions.”
