The last day of business for Sage Regenerative Kitchen & Brewery in Echo Park was Sunday, according to . Instagram post.
A post by @thekindsage reads: “We have all been passionate about shifting our concepts to regenerative agriculture, but despite our efforts, we are still in the same predicament today.” .
The post received over 1,200 comments, with many harsh opinions.

“Still the best buffalo cauliflower in the game!” one social media user posted.
“I want to cry!” said one person. “Sage has always been my favorite restaurant.”

Owner Mohr Engelhart said last year that the once vegan staple controversial decision Adding meat and dairy products to the menu has caused outrage and confusion.
Menu changes have added animal products such as beef, bison, cheese and eggs.
“I'm staying pretty true to my beliefs and identity because I don't plan on using processed foods or chemicals anymore,” she said. “I’m just coming at it from a different angle and it’s just upsetting people.”

According to the FOX 11 Los Angeles, That includes one on Father's Day 2024 when protesters stormed into the restaurant, forcing Sage to close early.
Some Instagram users remained unhappy with Sage's transition and were unsympathetic to its closure, with some even calling it a “victory for the animals.”

Engelhardt and her husband, Eloas Sosa, are both chefs and co-owners of Sage.
The couple sold their home “in hopes of breathing new life into Sage,” the company's Instagram post said.
