Meghan Markle’s dad is moving to the other side of the world at the age of 80 to get away from the insanity that surrounds his daily life, he told the Daily Mail in an interview published Jan. 4.
Thomas Markle spoke out by explaining that after ten years in Mexico he’s seeking a new life with “peace” and “kinder people.” He is currently exploring housing options in Southeast Asia. When asked why he’s leaving, Thomas responded, “Mostly, I just want peace. At 80, none of us know how long we have left.”
“I want whatever time I have to be peaceful with none of the awful drama of recent years,” he told the Daily Mail.

Thomas didn’t outright say he’s trying to escape his daughter, but since Meghan and Prince Harry revolted against the Royal Family and went their own way, Thomas has suffered two heart attacks and a stroke. Things seem to be taking a toll on him in a big way.
He told the publication that he is planning to travel and explore his options with Meghan’s half-brother, his son, Tom Jr..
“I don’t know where I’ll end up but it is time to move on and find a place where I can live among kind people and enjoy the time I have left,” Thomas said.
Thomas has been living just 250 miles away from Meghan and Prince Harry’s 16-bathroom mansion in Montecito, California, but said he has never been invited to their home. Meghan has refused to allow him into her life and he has never once met Prince Harry or his grandchildren, Archie or Lilibet, according to Daily Mail. Archie is five years old, while Lilibet is three years old. Tom Jr. is 58 years old.
Clearly, the cold-shoulder from his daughter has gotten to him, but it seems he’s still holding out hope that one day their situation will change.

“I don’t like some of the things my daughter has done but I will always love her. My door is always open to her. I love her and that will never change. I love all my children,” Thomas told the publication.
“I’m not running away. I am going in search of a more positive life. Every day I see something about Meghan. This week it has been the new TV show,” he said, as he expressed his need to put some more miles between him and the pain.
“I wish her no ill will. My dream is that one day I could bring my whole family together, like a ‘normal’ family,” he said.
The negative press and the stress of his family dynamic seems to have been too much for Thomas.
“I am ready for a change. I have felt stuck in a rut for some time and I am ready to meet new people and experience kindness,” he told Daily Mail.
Thomas indirectly took a swipe at Prince Harry by reminiscing about Meghan’s first marriage, to Hollywood producer Trevor Engelson in 2011. (RELATED: Meghan Markle Finds New Way To Haunt Us)
“I really liked Trevor,” he said. “I don’t think he ever understood why she dumped him, either.”
