Democratic Congressional Candidate from Texas Claims First Vote Will Be to Impeach Trump

East Texas Congressional Candidate Advocates for Impeachment of Trump

A Democratic candidate running for Congress in East Texas announced that his very first vote, if elected, would be to impeach Donald Trump. In a conversation with a local ABC station, he expressed his opposition to the border wall and showed support for immigration legislation reminiscent of the amnesty proposals during the Biden administration.

Dan Alexander, vying for a seat in Texas’s 1st Congressional District, currently held by Republican Nathaniel Moran, shared his views with KLTV ABC7 in Tyler. He referred to mass deportation policies as “an attack on the American people.”

On his campaign website, Alexander mentioned, “Walls Don’t Work,” indicating his stance against building barriers. He also advocates for federally legalizing abortion and endorses measures for “gun safety,” including red flag laws.

Regarding foreign affairs, Alexander criticized the ongoing conflict with Iran, labeling it an “illegal war.” He claimed that Trump has committed significant offenses by leading attacks on the American populace through immigration policies and initiating this conflict.

Conversely, incumbent Rep. Nathaniel Moran defended the Trump administration’s financial commitment, stating that the $25 billion spent on the Iran conflict represents a “great investment.” In a recent interview, he emphasized Congress’s essential role as the Article I arm of government, highlighting the importance of ensuring proper conditions for fund allocation amid ongoing tensions.

Moran has also expressed support for funding ICE and the Department of Homeland Security, underscoring their role in national security. He remarked on the significance of the Department of Homeland Security funding, noting its direct impact on everyday life and the political conversations surrounding government spending.

As these two East Texas candidates gear up for the general election in November, their contrasting views are likely to shape the campaign’s dynamic.
