Author and pastor John MacArthur's recovery from a series of surgeries is “slower than expected,” according to a church elder who asked for prayers for the 85-year-old pastor. Grace Community Church (GCC) Elder Tom Patton given to church members update MacArthur's health status on Sunday.

In 2023, MacArthur underwent heart surgery and was sidelined for several weeks. He updated listeners on his condition on the May 2023 broadcast.
