Michigan State Police are investigating the mysterious drowning of a Navy veteran and father of two who was last seen with his family at a popular vacation spot in Frankenmuth, a Bavarian-style town between Saginaw and Flint. are.
The Frankenmuth Police Department (FPD) and its dive team found and contained Robert Lauren Bacon, 52, in the Cass River near Heritage Park on January 4th.
Bacon's ex-wife, Melissa McClena, said Bacon was last seen around 7:20 p.m. on Dec. 27 at the Bavarian Inn Lodge, where he was attending a family gathering.
“I went to my car to get something and went back to the pool area to meet up with my family,” McClena wrote on Facebook on Dec. 29. “He never returned to his family at the pool. His cell phone went straight to voicemail.” ”

Bacon's family reported the 52-year-old missing on Dec. 30, according to FPD.
After an extensive search involving multiple law enforcement agencies and teams, search dogs and drones, authorities located Bacon in the Cass River and determined his preliminary cause of death to be drowning.
