Golden Globes Ratings Drops in 2025, Down from Abysmal 2024 Viewership

The 82nd Golden Globe Awards, which aired on Sunday, drew just 9.3 million viewers, down 1 percent from last year's already terrible numbers. Overall, ratings for the Globes are down 49% from their most recent ratings high just five years ago.

In a strange development, Nielsen's numbers – widely considered the industry standard – contradict those released by CBS on Monday, when the network claimed that viewership for the Globes increased by 7 percent. are.

CBS parent company Paramount reported Monday that the Globes had 10.1 million viewers, up 7 percent from last year's 9.4 million viewers. However, these numbers are based on data from a lesser-known service: VideoAmp.

This discrepancy has many in Hollywood scratching their heads, wondering if Paramount is adjusting its own numbers to prevent further ratings embarrassment. The media giant is currently negotiating a deal with Nielsen.

Like other Hollywood awards shows, the Globes have experienced catastrophic declines in viewership, with tens of millions of Americans repeatedly under fire for political endorsements from spoiled left-wing celebrities. This viewership rating seems unrecoverable as people are choosing not to watch the show.

Even roast comedian Nikki Glazer, who hosted Sunday's broadcast, failed to capture the public's interest, although her performance was widely praised. The Globes will reportedly bring Glazer back for next year's show.

Last year's Globes broadcast drew just 9.4 million viewers, far less than in pre-COVID-19 years, when the show drew twice that many viewers. As of 2020, approximately 18.4 million people watched the awards ceremony.

Transgenderism played a big role in this year's ceremony with Netflix's transgender musical Emilia Perez It is emerging as a big winner.
