Actor Jon Cryer defended this phenomenon by comparing it to left-handed people, saying it is acceptable for children to become transgender, and that society forces left-handed people to write with their right hand. “There's social oppression. It's like being left-handed,” Cryer told Bill Maher about transgenderism. “Being left-handed has been suppressed among humans for thousands of years.”

Ms. Cryer made the strange comparison in response to a conversation she had with Ms. Maher about their children becoming transgender.
Maher suggested that liberals should “recognize the idea that children don't know anything,” including whether they need to change their gender.
“Sure, sometimes it's obvious and you should deal with it that way. But children, Christ Almighty, as a child I would have had to deal with something like this. I think that's the case,” Maher said.

Elsewhere in the conversation, Cryer, who called himself “somewhat stupidly woke,” said he believed Americans “wanted” Vice President Kamala to lose the 2024 election to President-elect Donald Trump. He bizarrely claimed that it was because he “hated black women.”
