The San Francisco 49ers player who was shot during an attempted robbery is hoping to inspire the young man who caused his injuries.
Ricky Pearsall, a 24-year-old rookie wide receiver from Florida State, had not yet started his career when he was shot by a 17-year-old boy in August. “We don't know where he came from or what kind of environment he was in,” Pearsall continued. “I don't know how he was raised, so I can't judge him as a person based on just his actions. It was as violent as it was criminal, but God knows he's a good person to other people.” “I don't want that to happen.''
Mr. Pearsall then expressed a desire to meet the young man and forgive him.

Pearsall disappeared for about six weeks after being released from the hospital the day after the shooting. Just a few days later, he visited the 49ers' practice.
Pearsall's first game was Oct. 20, when he had three receptions for 21 yards. He finished his rookie season with 400 yards in 11 games. However, the 49ers missed the playoffs.
A 17-year-old male from Tracy, California, was charged with attempted murder, assault with a semi-automatic weapon, and attempted second-degree robbery.
The defendant reportedly apologized through his attorney and claimed he did not intend to shoot Pearsall. Lawyers argued that surveillance video would reveal that.
