Dick Vitale supports Notre Dame at Orange Bowl after announcing he’s cancer free

The Orange Bowl was attended by notable guests from Hard Rock Stadium.

ESPN's iconic college basketball analyst Dick Vitale appeared on the on-site broadcast of the highly anticipated game between Penn State and Notre Dame.

The 85-year-old was seen standing in the crowd with his wife Lorraine and ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro, wearing a green pullover with a gold ND logo on the chest. It was done.

Vitale, who has been battling a long-term health battle, announced Wednesday that his vocal cords are cancer-free and said he hopes to be calling games on television soon.

“I just had my vocal cords tested and was very impressed with Dr. Zeitels' excellent report,” Vitale wrote on his X account. “He said his vocal cords were cancer-free and he felt he could return to the love he had of being courtside all the time.” @espn

This was announced several weeks after Vitale announced that a PET scan showed no abnormalities.

Vitale was diagnosed with cancer in her lymph nodes and underwent surgery in July, making this the fourth time she has been diagnosed with cancer.

After missing the entire 2023-24 basketball season due to a battle with vocal cord cancer, Vitale announced in June his intention to return to the booth next season.

Vitale said he spoke last night with the parents of the Fighting Irish football player, who has posted several times about Notre Dame.

His daughters Terry and Sherry both attended the school, and in 2015 the Vitales donated $1 million to Notre Dame to help undergraduate students in need.
