Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr found himself in the same situation as thousands of other Californians after losing his childhood home in the California wildfires.
Before Golden State's game against the Detroit Pistons Thursday night, Kerr spoke about losing his childhood home in the Pacific Palisades, where his mother still lived.
“My town seems to have completely disappeared,” Carr said. “It's surreal and devastating.”
Kirk confirmed that his mother was safely evacuated from her home before it was consumed by the flames. Additionally, Carr's other friends and loved ones who were in the area also returned safely.
When asked about the difficulty of losing a place filled with so many memories, Kerr could only think of words to describe it.
“It's all about once-in-a-lifetime memories, events, birthday parties, everything. And just seeing the destruction, the devastation, like I said, is just unfathomable.”
Kerr isn't the only NBA coach to lose his home. Lakers coach JJ Redick's home was also destroyed in the fire.
