Giants legend Victor Cruz talks state of team after it retained coach, general manager despite abysmal season

Less than three weeks later, the New York Giants had taken control of the NFL draft committee and held the tentative No. 1 pick. They won with 45 points, the most in over 10 years.

The Giants are currently in line to take the No. 3 pick in the draft, and many experts say at most two QBs are worth taking early.

Two teams ahead of the Giants, the Titans and Browns, are likely to be in the quarterback market.

It was the Giants' worst season in a generation. With a record of 3 wins and 14 losses, his winning percentage of .176 was the fourth lowest in franchise history. Despite this, owner John Mara made the unpopular decision to retain both head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schon.

However, if Daboll is fired, the Giants will have their fifth head coach in 10 seasons, not counting the interim. This is less than an ideal process, especially considering that Tom Coughlin had 12 people on the station.

Giants fans may not like this decision, but Victor Cruz understands it.

“I think at some point you have to provide some continuity, right? You can't keep firing all the coaches. We need to give it some runway,” Cruz said in a recent interview with Fox News Digital.

Cruz said the players, especially the veterans, “love” Daboll, which led to Mara's decision. But Daboll and Shane need to compete next year if they want to survive.

“I'm not saying we have to go win 13 or 12 games, but we have to at least be competitive next year so our fans have a better taste,” Cruz said. Ta. He even admitted that the tandem could survive even if the Giants were “bad” again.

“I think it depends on how bad we are, right? How bad are we? Also 3-14 or 9-8? 8-9? We're in that middle class. “A few blocks away?” he said.

“Now, if we're a three-win team next year, we've got to blow it up, because obviously it's not working. If we're like, 'OK, I'm going to get over that last hurdle, we're probably going to be a wild team.' – In the card spot, we're there, and I have a different preference. Let's think about what we need to do.”

The G-Men aren't likely to smell a Super Bowl for a while, so perhaps the players will be partying for this year's big game. Cruz is partnering with Finish Ultimate dishwasher detergent ahead of a trip to New Orleans next month. The brand is giving away $10,000 in cash prizes to help fans host the Super Bowl party of their dreams.

“As I move into retirement and lounging and posting in my crib, it helps get rid of stubborn stains. It helps when I'm making food. I have different food here and I'm putting it on those dishes. It had stubborn stains on it,''' Cruz said.

“Finish Ultimate is a great way to remove stubborn stains and I wouldn’t use any other brand.”

The Giants' focus is on the draft, and even if the Titans and Browns give up Cam Ward or Shedur Sanders to the Giants, Cruz will be grateful but not grateful and will go after a familiar name.

“I think we should get one of our veteran players in free agency, build the roster for another year, be competitive the next year, and then commit to Arch Manning the year after that,” Cruz said. “Now we've acquired teams through the draft and free agency. We have a draft year to compete for players and build the roster the right way and build depth at all these positions. …And we're going to go get 'em.'' Let's let the quarterback be a free agent and see what happens. ”

So who does Coach Cruise want to pick at No. 3?

“I like Travis Hunter. Pair him with Malik Nabors and give him some plays on defense? Come on. It's hard to miss that. That's the game changer I'm talking about. It's that guy who can't game plan.'' Teams have to game plan for their defensive players and they're like, “By the way, he's going to play 30 snaps on offense.'' Just imagine. He's a guy who does really good things for us.

“He's a great personality. He's a great kid. We're going to have a lot of fun together. And him and Malik Nabors together, you see their energy and we're marketing not only on the field but off the field.” I imagine doing an activity together. They're going to crush it in New York City.

“And I just think that by being together they can help each other and feed each other and help each other grow at the same time and be together and face all the ups and downs that are going to happen. . And they might be the glue that holds the team together and keeps everyone positive. ”
