As the Trump administration prepares for mass deportations, the uproar over “birthright citizenship” is sure to escalate.
mark levin He says the concept of birthright citizenship — the idea that you're a citizen if you're born in the United States — is a sham, and always has been.
Many people believe that birthright citizenship is enshrined in the Constitution, but that is incorrect. Democrats and the media claim it specifically stems from the 14th Amendment, but that's a lie.
“It's not in the Constitution. … It's not in the legislative history of the 14th Amendment. … It's not in the Civil Rights Act of 1866,” Levin explains.
The Fourteenth Amendment “was intended to ensure that black people would be free citizens of the United States in all respects. It had nothing to do with immigration, whether legal or illegal.” he added.
Furthermore, Article 1, Section 8, Section 4 of the Constitution provides that “Congress has the power to enact uniform rules regarding naturalization.''
“Congress has never passed a federal law that provides birthright citizenship,” Levin explains. “So it doesn't exist in the Constitution, it doesn't exist in federal law, it doesn't exist in legislative history, and yet it's still being used.”
why?
Because Democrats see birthright citizenship as a means to an end.
“Inherent citizenship is a claim, a position, a policy that Democrats cling to because they always want exclusive power and they don't care if it's foreign or not,” Levin said. he says.
