F1’s New Team at Their First British Grand Prix
Cadillac is making its debut at the British Grand Prix this weekend, and they’re doing it with a distinct flair at the historic Silverstone circuit.
In anticipation of the event, the team has rolled out a striking livery featuring a red, white, and blue color scheme. Cadillac refers to this design as “an intentional expression of the team’s American identity.” It incorporates elements reminiscent of the Star-Spangled Banner, symbolizing U.S. heritage and acknowledging significant moments in the nation’s history.
The design isn’t just about the colors; the rear wing proudly displays “USA,” while the front wing showcases 50 stars.
Dan Tollis, Cadillac F1’s CEO, remarked during the media preview, “The Fourth of July weekend is a moment to demonstrate our continued pride in representing the United States on the world stage in Formula 1. We want to use this as an opportunity for new communities to discover the sport and share our passion.”
On the racing front, Cadillac aims to recover from their recent challenges at the Austrian Grand Prix, where both Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas had to retire prematurely due to brake overheating. With hopes high for a better outcome at Silverstone, the team is eager to capitalize on whatever opportunities come their way.
Graham Loudon, the team’s principal, acknowledged the difficulties faced in Austria but emphasized that, “There’s no team that hasn’t had similar days in the pit lane.” He expressed confidence that the upgrades introduced at Spielberg would prove beneficial. “Our aim at Silverstone is to ensure we have a clean weekend to maximize our performance potential,” he said. “It’s a big task, especially so soon after Austria, but we’re committed to learning and progressing as a team.”
Perez, who was on the verge of scoring the team’s first F1 points at the Monaco Grand Prix before facing a post-race penalty, is particularly eager to make a positive impact for their American fans. “The team continues to show great potential,” he noted, while also underlining the need to solidify the fundamentals to truly unlock their performance. “Silverstone is going to be a tricky event, especially with the heat, but we have experience and resilience to find a way forward.”
“We’re looking forward to the weekend and hope to give our American fans another reason to celebrate Independence Day,” Pérez added, reflecting the excitement surrounding the event.
Cadillac is joined by McLaren and Williams in unveiling a special livery for this Grand Prix, adding extra anticipation to the event.
