On Sunday, the Washington Commanders accomplished something that hasn't happened in a long time. They actually won a playoff game. Ending the NFL's longest drought, Jaden Daniels led his team to a thrilling last-minute victory when his field goal attempt happened to bounce off the uprights.
This was the first win since January 7, 2006, when the team (which had a different nickname at the time) also hilariously defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If you want to know how long ago that was, consider the following bullet points for that game.
- Joe Gibbs was Washington's coach.
- Jon Gruden was Tampa Bay's coach
- Mark Brunell and Chris Sims were the starting quarterbacks.
- Clinton Portis and Cadillac Williams were running backs.
- The deciding factor in the game was a late fumble returned by the great Sean Taylor 51 yards for a touchdown.
This is one of those sports moments that is like a time capsule. Before Sunday night, hop on over to the Wayback Machine to check out what life was like when Washington won a playoff game.
