In comments to the BBC, a former White House official lamented that President Biden seems to be a “different person” compared to the early days of his administration.
“When you watch Biden's speech, you think, oh my gosh, this is a different person,” said a senior Biden official. told the outlet In an article about presidential legacies. “Maybe you just don’t see it when you’re there every day.”

Democratic strategist Susan Estrich told the BBC that Biden's legacy will essentially be that Trump's presidency ends his own.
“He wants to get credit for saving us from Trump,” Estrich said. “But sadly for him, his legacy is Trump again. He's the bridge from Trump 1 to Trump 2.”
The BBC report also cited comments from another senior Biden official who lamented that the White House had been more decisive in the early days of his presidency.
“When things start to get tough and you lose the sense of accomplishing something big, it can be replaced by infighting and frustration,” the person told the BBC.
The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

The BBC's Anthony Zurcher said he asked lawyer Merrick Garland what history would make of the Biden administration.

Biden revealed how he wants to be remembered in an interview with USA Today's Susan Page.
“I hope history will tell me that I came in with a plan to restore the economy and reestablish American leadership in the world,” he said. “That was my hope.”
“And I hope that there will be a record that I acted honestly and with integrity and that I said what was on my mind,” he said.
