How Colleague Jon Kahn Helped Save My House

Without Breitbart News' John Kahn, “we would be homeless.” Breitbart News Sunday Host Joel Pollack spoke about the power of long-standing friendships in the midst of tragedy.

Pollack said of Khan, a longtime friend. Khan was the singer of the number one song “Fighter” and a close friend of Andrew Breitbart. He lost his home in last week's Palisades fire, and Pollack accompanied him Sunday to inspect it. Pollack, who lives near Khan, said she and her family had originally planned to take shelter in Khan's house as the fire approached.

“And I got stuck in traffic at Sunset and had to take a shortcut. So I called him and said, 'Look, I'm going to Santa Monica.' And he said, “Okay.” And then a few hours later he had to be evacuated,” he said.

“However, despite being in the direct path of the fire, our home survived, his home did not. And they restricted press-only access to the Pacific Palisades. “He's a member of the media, so he came with me today to see his house,” Pollack said. They also visited his home, which still stands. He explained that he did.

Pollack thought the fire was out because he had been there several times and had used his wife's vase to put it out next to the fence and a neighboring tree.

“I had the vases I gave my wife with flowers: two vases, two bouquets, and fresh water. So I put out the fire, dipped the vases in the gutter, and let the water flow down the slope. “If I hadn't given my wife flowers, I wouldn't have been able to start anything,” he said.

“The next day another guy came with me and helped me clear out some smoldering spots around the house. Probably Friday and Saturday, nothing really changed. Today. Get there. John: “What's that?” Smoke? 'I didn't see it, so I looked on the other side of the fence, or across the neighbor's yard to what used to be the fence in the neighbor's yard, and found that somewhere near the yard There was smoke coming out of it,” Pollack revealed.

“So I walked through the hole in the fence to my neighbor's yard, my neighbor's yard, and I looked and instead of just smoldering embers, there was a full blaze of flames coming from the property. There were flames flickering and flying wildly on the wooden steps leading into the canyon,” he emphasized, adding, “If John hadn't been there with me, we would have had this wind tonight and tomorrow. ” he emphasized. If that fire had happened, the seven remaining houses on our street (including mine) would have gone up in flames. ”

“We could have thought we were safe, we could have been homeless, and I was going to help John look at the house, so he told me that I was going to help him see my house. He helped save things. So he drove down the street to the fire station. They had extinguished some fires in the burned down school, but are now extinguishing all the hot spots ahead of the high winds. And they came down. They dug out the burning trees and put out the fire. I put it out and poured some foam,” he said, which took about 30 minutes.

“They put out the fire, so hopefully they saved my neighbor's house. I hope they saved my house. If I lost my house completely, who should file an insurance claim?” is probably easier, but people still want to save their homes, especially men. I think that's part of being a man. And I was able to do it because I helped my friend and colleague John Carne sing that song. Because I helped him, and he helped me,” Pollack said. “That’s the Pacific Palisades.”

“Love is the foundation of this country: love of freedom, love for each other, love for God and the love God has for us,” Pollack added.
