Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) said. Breitbart News Daily Commenting on the sudden postponement of some confirmation hearings for members of President-elect Donald Trump's soon-to-be cabinet, he concluded that the swamp was trying to “make life difficult for the Trump administration.”
President Trump's nominee for Secretary of Veterans Affairs, former Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.), was scheduled to have a confirmation hearing Tuesday, but that was postponed.
“You're on the Veterans Affairs Committee,” moderator Mike Slater said during the debate with Blackburn. “Doug Collins was supposed to come today, but it got postponed due to some paperwork issues with the FBI. The headlines make it seem like he failed the background check, right? What happened to this document? ”
“The Office of Government Ethics just took three days off last week because of the snow,” Blackburn revealed. “And this is more of a, 'Let's see how we can disrupt it.'”
“I think they are trying to slow things down and make life difficult for the Trump administration,” she continued.
Asked how long Democrats could delay approval, Blackburn said, “We could probably delay it by a week.”
“Let me tell you something. We need to proceed with the hearing as scheduled, and then proceed with the paperwork. We need to proceed with the hearing because, “Oh, we don't have the FBI documents,'' or “We don't have the OGE documents.'' There is no need to postpone the meeting. We just have to move forward with the hearing. And Mike, we need to send a message to Democrats. We’re not going to play their game,” she said.
“These are the people who were elected. It's Congress' job to give advice and consent. We need to keep doing the American people's job, and Democrats need to stop this stupidity,” she said. added.
