Olympic Kitesurfer Rescues Woman at Risk of Drowning

A video clip of an Olympic kitesurfer rescuing a drowning woman off the coast of Brazil is going viral online.

Bruno Lobo, 31, launched his kitesurfing gear off the coast of San Luis, Brazil on January 10th to test his new video system, and the camera captured some great footage. That was a good thing.

His surfing videos initially showed the San Luis-born Lobo enjoying the ocean, but soon he I'm worried about something USA Today Reported.

A surfer who is also a doctor witnessed a woman in distress far from the beach. He then began manipulating the wind sails so he could get closer to the fluttering young woman.

Soon he came up behind her and swam to catch her, pulling her to the board. The video then shows him heading to shore.

“After sailing a few meters, I heard cries for help and saw a drowning girl,” the surfer, who competed in last year's Paris Olympics, wrote on Instagram. “I immediately approached her with a kite and tried to calm her down, asking her to climb on my back as she was very tired and had no strength.”

“I'm very happy with the happy ending and she's fine! Certainly, if she had stayed in the water (longer), that wouldn't have happened,” Lobo said.

The Olympian also dismissed any talk of heroism, saying, “Thank you for all the messages. I just did what I had to do and what I could do!”
