What Kevin Kisner did on the 14th hole of Tuesday night's game may go down as the funniest moment in TGL history, even though this new endeavor is only two weeks old.
After hitting his approach shot into a greenside bunker, Kisner is semi-retired and hasn't played many games. hit a complete shank. His rocket hosel rifled off the wedge and lined up like a bee toward the flagpole. The ball bounced off the pin, making a loud noise, and his ball finally landed outside the green zone.
Tiger Woods cringed in disbelief, unable to help himself. Golf fans had never seen him laugh so hard. Teammate Max Homa echoed those sentiments, laughing so hard he couldn't breathe.
However, it was good that the pin stayed out of Kisner's way, otherwise his shank likely would have ended up in the SoFi Center crowd and could have caused a lot of pain.
But in typical Kiss fashion, Kisner shook off the shank with his comeback chip almost in the hole. He hit a nice third shot that seemed destined to fall onto the green, trickle down the slope, and head toward the hole. It almost made for an incredible par, but his attempt failed at the last second. He had to settle for a bogey 4, which wasn't a bad score all things considered.
But Kisner and Woods' team at Jupiter Links Golf Club had a pretty poor showing in their debut. They lost 12-1 to Los Angeles Golf Club as Collin Morikawa and Sahis Segala made solid approaches and Justin Rose sank many putts.
At least Kisner gave everyone a good laugh amidst all the mayhem.
