More than four years have passed since the events of January 6, 2021, and despite disputed claims and disputed evidence about what happened that day, Attorney General Merrick Garland still believes it was fatal. This perpetuates the theory that it was a violent riot.
“On this day four years ago, the police officers bravely defending the U.S. Capitol were brutally assaulted. They were beaten, tackled, taped, attacked with chemicals, and suffered burns to their eyes and skin. Garland said in a statement.
“Today, I honor the police officers who still bear the scars of that day and the loved ones of the five officers who lost their lives in the line of duty as a result of what happened to them on January 6th. “Thinking of you, 2021,” Garland continued.
“January 6th was a violent attack on law enforcement officers protecting the Capitol and an unprecedented assault on the foundation of our nation's system of governance: the peaceful transfer of power from one administration to the next.” he added.

“It's so irresponsible and so despicable to continue this lie four years later,” Gray commented, noting that Garland is not alone in continuing to lie. Democratic Rep. Jake Auchincloss also claimed that police officers “lost their lives” on January 6 and that Donald Trump “aided and abetted their murder.”
“We have to memorialize the police officers who lost their lives, because it's hard to do that. I don't remember a single police officer losing their life on January 6th. Why? ? Because that didn’t happen,” Gray says.
“Can't any real journalist resist these obvious and proven lies about January 6th? Just shove it in the back a little bit,” Gray continues. “Tell me, Congressman, who lost their lives on January 6th because of that mob? Because no one has the answers. And four years later, they just want to make that stinking irresponsible They keep repeating lies.”
