Pam Bondi lays a land mine for Adam Schiff during confirmation hearing: ‘You know what we should be worried about?’

Pam Bondi, nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to be attorney general, lashed out at California Democratic Sen. Adam Schiff after a heated exchange during Wednesday's confirmation hearing.

Like other Senate Democrats, Mr. Schiff spent much of his time interrupting Mr. Bondi and suggesting that he would act as a partisan actor at the Justice Department on behalf of the president. After Schiff repeatedly reprimanded her, Bondi pointed out the hypocrisy of the way he asked the question.

“Senator, all I can say is that I have no intention of being a politician. You're trying to get me into 'trouble.'

“You're all very concerned about Sen. Liz Cheney,” Bondi said. said. “Do you know what we should be concerned about? Crime rates in California are sky-high right now. Robberies are 87% higher than the national average. That's what I want to focus on. , Senator.”

Senate Democrats, particularly Mr. Schiff, have slammed Mr. Bondi, expressing concern that President Trump will weaponize the federal government on a partisan basis. Although Schiff claims to be concerned about weaponization, he fails to recognize the partisan divide under Attorney General Merrick Garland and President Joe Biden.

“Senator, one thing I can tell you is that I will never be politically active,” Bondi said. said To Mr. Schiff. “You're trying to get me into 'trouble.' I'm not going to play politics with an ongoing investigation like you did with your colleague Devin Nunes' leaked memo.”

Like some of his Democratic colleagues, Mr. Schiff quibbled with President Trump's desire to pardon the Jan. 6 incident and asked Mr. Bondi whether he would issue a full pardon.

“As I said earlier, pardons are at the direction of the president,” Bondi said. “We will investigate and advise. I will consider every incident on a case-by-case basis and I abhor violence against police officers.”

“Senator, I follow the law,” Bondi added.
