Sacred tabernacle miraculously survives devastation of California fires — fire captain hints it was saved for divine reason

A church was recently reduced to rubble in the California fires. However, the church tabernacle miraculously escaped overwhelming destruction from the wildfires. The Los Angeles fire chief who recovered this religious treasure hinted that there was a divine reason why it was so well preserved despite being surrounded by complete destruction.

According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection dataThe Palisades Fire burned approximately 24,000 acres and destroyed or damaged an estimated 5,000 structures. One of the buildings destroyed in the massive fire was the Corpus Christi Church in Los Angeles, California.

“It was one of the most uplifting things that happened.”

The roof of Corpus Christi Church collapsed, the pews were destroyed, and the walls were reduced to ashes. The church's nave was buried under six feet of rubble.

Los Angeles Fire Chief Brian Nassore said Regarding the devastation surrounding the church, he said: “The whole community was destroyed, it was like a nuclear bomb went off and there was nothing left.”

Nassour is no stranger to Corpus Christi Church. Because his older brother was a parishioner at Corpus Christi Church.

Sadly, his brother lost his home in the Palisades fire.

“My brother lost his home. I have close friends who lost everything except the shirt on their back. They also belong to that church,” Nassore said. angelus news.

Nasr made a miraculous discovery while investigating the ruins of what was once a beautiful church.

Among the rubble, Nasr found the granite altar and solid brass tabernacle above it intact, still containing the Holy Eucharist.

Nasr suggested there was a divine reason as to how or why the Tabernacle survived overwhelming destruction.

“Talk to the firefighters. In religious buildings, unless specifically set on fire, crosses and certain highly religious items usually survive,” Nassore declared.

The fire chief said: “Then if we can save one thing, let it be this. Then they will have something to believe in.”

Nasr requested the assistance of a crew to pull the 300-pound tabernacle from the ruins of Corpus Christi Church.

Nassor contacted Corpus Christi's pastor, Friar Liam Kidney, to inform him that the tabernacle had been rescued from the wildfire.

“He was in complete disbelief,” Nassore said.

The tabernacle was brought to St. Monica Church by former FBI agent Gabe Sanchez, who was working with the archdiocese.

The next day, Monsignor Kidney held a Mass for the survivors of the California fires.

“It was one of the most uplifting things that happened. Not everyone is religious, but they saw it and thought, 'This is great,'” Nasr explained.

The fire chief continued, “We are doing at least one thing that we can save for our community.''
