WATCH: Bus comes within inches of disaster on elevated overpass during rush hour

A New York City bus was caught on video teetering on the edge of an overpass after its driver lost control and slid into a wall, officials said.

Spokespeople for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the New York City Fire Department confirmed to Fox News Digital that the driver missed a turn at 8:40 a.m. Friday and crashed into a stone wall.

Video footage showed the passenger bus dangling over the road at Henry Hudson Parkway and Kapok Street in the Bronx. This bus is identified as the BXM1 bus and operates to and from Manhattan.

There were no passengers on the bus and the driver was not injured, authorities said. Firefighters were able to rescue the bus driver and there were no injuries.

Video footage showed fire department personnel responding to the scene where the bus was sweeping stone debris from the overpass onto the road below.

Firefighters used heavy-duty cables to hook onto the bus and pull it from the steep drop, video showed.

Officials said the cause of the crash was still under investigation and the Department of Transportation would investigate the incident.
