“The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert lamented the end of the Biden presidency on his Thursday night show on CBS.

In his opening monologue, the late-night host said the broadcast would be bittersweet given Biden's departure from the Oval Office.

“Tonight is just a little bit, a little bit, a little bit sweet, a little bit sweet chocolate chip. It's the end of an era, because this is the last show of the Biden administration.”

The audience in the hall let out a sigh of disappointment.

The host added that the program's staff will “work hard every single day” over the “next four years.”

Colbert's show has shown staunch anti-Trump resistance in the form of jokes throughout the president-elect's political career.

a Media Research Center Research shows that at the height of Trump's second presidential campaign, Colbert defeated the then-candidate by about 40 times more than the president's opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.

Mr. Colbert is not entirely immune to Mr. Biden's jab or two. In one instance, a host mocked him for a “twisted metaphor” he used during his farewell address on Wednesday.

On the show, the president said, “Like America, the Statue of Liberty is not static. She is on the march, literally in motion. She was built to withstand the fury of the weather and rock back and forth to stand.'' ''A video was shown saying. Storms always come so she sways a few inches but never falls into the stream below. ”

When the camera returned to Colbert, he was wearing aviator sunglasses, giving the impression of Biden. “What I'm saying is, run! The Statue of Liberty is alive, everyone! Get out of there! No, no, it's alive! I saw it in a documentary – Ghostbusters 2. Don't cross the river. Please.

“Who are you going to call? Not me. Joe Biden out, everyone!” Colbert finished.
