The mother of a Maryland woman killed in a brutal running trail attack blamed on illegal immigrants, who committed other crimes on multiple continents and in multiple states, spoke out about the tragedy before speaking out on Monday about Donald Trump. He is scheduled to attend President-elect Trump's inauguration ceremony. An unexpected friendship was born with the returned commander-in-chief.
“The last year and a half has been a surreal experience. Losing my daughter in such a gruesome and unexpected way, the anticipation and fear that the suspect will be arrested, Rachel's case becoming an international Patti Morin told FOX News Digital, “It attracted a lot of attention, culminating in “congressional hearings and his friendship with President Trump.''
His 37-year-old daughter, Rachel Morin, was reported missing in August 2023 after she did not return from her daily jog. Rachel, a mother of five herself, was later found seriously injured, stuffed in a culvert near a path.

It took interstate law enforcement efforts to identify and apprehend Victor Antonio Martinez Hernandez, 23, who was accused of being a border “fugitive” in a spate of violent crimes against women.
He is wanted for the murder of another woman in his native El Salvador and is accused of breaking into a home in California and raping the woman and her 9-year-old daughter there.

She has visited the Capitol numerous times over the past year to testify before Congress and advocate for a crackdown on immigration crimes.

Earlier this month, some of those efforts came to fruition with the passage of the Laken Riley Act, named after another young woman suspected of killing an illegal immigrant. Like Rachel Morin, Georgia nursing student Riley was attacked by a stranger while jogging.

“Amending federal law, as outlined in the Laken Riley Act, would create stronger provisions for apprehending criminal illegal immigrants and would allow states and citizens affected by the Biden-Harris open border disaster to will be granted injunctive relief,” Morin said. “I am very encouraged that Congress is finally taking steps to protect American families and ensure safer communities.”

“It's a slap in the face to Americans who have lost loved ones that 159 Democrats chose to protect criminal illegal immigrants rather than the American people they were elected to protect. It's a shame!'' she added.
