President Donald Trump's life was saved by a “millimetre miracle,” Detroit pastor Lorenzo Sewell said during a prayer at Trump's inauguration Monday and at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. It mentions that President Trump almost died after his ear was shot out by an assassin, and he almost lost his brain in 2024.
“Heavenly Father, we are so grateful for the miraculous miracles you have given our 45th President and now our 47th President. I'm grateful that you were the one who called him at such a difficult time,” Sewell said.
“We pray that we will realize the true meaning of our creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.'' “We pray that you will use our president, that we will live in a nation where we will not be judged by the color of our skin, but by the content of our character,” Martin Luther King Jr. famously said. He continued quoting these words. “I have a dream” speech.
“Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, we are so grateful that you would use our 47th president today so that we could sing with new meaning. Sing: 'My country is yours, sweet land of freedom, I am yours'; From the land where my fathers died, the pride of pilgrims, from every mountainside, let freedom ring. Please make it ring,” he prayed.
Pastor Sewell told Breitbart News' Nick Gilbertson at the 2024 Republican National Convention (RNC), just days after the assassination attempt. [Trump]”
“The Bible is clear: Prayer is preventive, prayer is proactive. We prayed for him a month ago and last week as well. What do you see? We saw the good Lord's hand protect him. And whether you love Trump or hate him, in the end he prevailed because of answered prayers. ,” Sewell said.
He also said he “absolutely” believes Americans are starting to turn to faith.
“That's why we started the podcast politics and pulpit “Because after all, God has put in the hearts of men, according to Ecclesiastes, a longing and a desire to know Himself,” he said. “So people have a God-shaped hole in their hearts, and they seek it through alcohol, drugs, women, men, and they end up failing. It’s just a cheap imitation. I’m looking for it.”
Sewell is a preacher at 180 Churches on Detroit's west side. welcomed President Trump attended a roundtable in June during the campaign.
“As he was about to leave, imagine over 100 black Americans heading towards him to get his signature. We gave him cake,” Sewell said. explained to local news outlets.
Sewell said he prayed for Trump at the event, which prompted Trump to ask him to pray at his inauguration.
“He said, 'At the inauguration, you prayed that for me, you'll be there,'” Sewell recalled.
“When I got the call, I started crying. I cried because I felt like Jesus wanted me to do something on Monday. I can't believe this is about me. “I think this is about the people who are hurting in Detroit,” he continued.
“It has nothing to do with Lorenzo. It has nothing to do with my church or my relationship with President Trump. It has everything to do with the voiceless. Now they have no voice. Sewell said.
“For me, I believe the most important thing we can proclaim, and what I believe Jesus would proclaim to our great nation, is Dr. King's dream,” he added.
President Trump echoed Sewell's sentiments in his inaugural address, saying he was “saved by God to make America great again.”
“Those who sought to stop our cause tried to take away my freedom and indeed my life. Just a few months ago, in a beautiful Pennsylvania field, an assassin's bullet struck my ear. I shot through, but I knew then, and even more so now, that my life was saved for a reason,” Trump said.
