Titans exec drops possible Travis Hunter hint ahead of 2025 NFL Draft

One unfamiliar term when discussing the 2025 quarterback class is that of generation.

And that could provide a clue as to who the Titans will target with the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker said Wednesday that the team is “not going to pass on talent from generation to generation.” Per ESPNThis explanation applies more to two-way phenom and Heisman winner Travis Hunter Jr. than to top-ranked quarterbacks like Shedule Sanders and Cam Ward.

“This is a pivotal moment for this team,” Brinker said of the upcoming draft.

The nickname “generational” talent may be thrown around too much in this day and age, but it's a fitting description of a player with Hunter's unique skill set.

That doesn't mean Ward, Sanders, or other options won't be great players. They will have a good chance of doing so.

There are some questions about this group and its individual limitations, especially when compared to last year's star-studded class that featured the likes of Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye.

Neither Ward nor Sanders faced elite defenses while playing in their respective conferences, and some draft analysts have noted that this year's options will be inferior to last year's class.

Some wonder which one is more deserving of the No. 1 pick, or if either one could be the No. 1 pick just because it's harder to pass a quarterback.

The Titans, Browns, and Giants each have the first three spots and could each select a quarterback.

There seem to be far fewer questions about Hunter, and perhaps Penn State's top pass rusher Abdul Carter.

ESPN's Mel Kiper ranks Hunter as the No. 1 prospect in his class and Carter as the No. 2 prospect. Sanders is the No. 4 player and Ward is the No. 5 player.

He also named Hunter as both the top-ranked cornerback and receiver in the class.

A Heisman Trophy winner who can shut down receivers on the outside and shine as a receiver would provide great value to an NFL team, even if it limits his involvement on one side of the ball.

I think Carter would add a great pass rusher to any defense, which is a huge asset in the modern NFL.

Despite the rankings, it's certainly possible the Titans decide one of the quarterbacks in this class is truly “generational” and take the plunge.

Kiper's mock draft shows an upset in which the Titans select Ward.

The Titans would call the player they selected generational, even if the available evidence showed it was just one player.
