DC plane crash timeline: Midair collision involves 67 passengers, crew members, soldiers

On Wednesday evening, it is estimated that the estimated 67 people have died after a commercial American Airlines flight and Black Hawk Helicopter from Wichita, Kansas, over the Washington DC Potomac River.

A total of 64 people, including the four staff members, were on the 5342 American Airlines, with three soldiers on the Army Cikorsky UH-60 Blackhawk from Fort Berboir in Virginia.

This is the timeline of the event up to the crash on Wednesday night.

January 29th

5:18 pm CST

The AA Flight 5342 will depart at 5:18 pm at 5:18 pm at Wichitado Wight D. Eisen Hower National Airport (ITC) Ronal Dragan Washington National Airport (DCA) at 6:18 pm for EST. Flightradar24.

8:39 pm

The Army UH-60 Black Hawk Helicopter departs Fort Belvoire as part of the training exercise. According to Fox News, the army officials told the soldiers that the soldiers were part of the “quite experienced” black hawk crew and had a night vision goggle on the helicopter.

8:40 pm EST

The 5342 flight started descending to DCA from the south.

The Air Control Officer asks the flight to land on the 5342 flight to the runway 33, and the pilot accepts the order.

The air traffic control (ATC) formula asks the Blackhawk (PAT-25) pilot if you can see commercial aircraft.

“Can you see the CRJ?” The controller asks, and the helicopter pilot confirms that he is looking at the passenger aircraft and demands “visual separation.” This means that he is trying to get out of the flight.

The DCA is closed for “aircraft emergency”.

9:09 pm

The DC Fire and EMS division should post the latest information on X stating that “I have confirmed a small aircraft at Reagan National Airport near the Potmax River.

Officials have held a press conference at Washington DC, saying that 67 passengers, crew and soldiers on both aircraft have died.

“We are currently switching from rescue activities to recovery activities,” Donnely says during briefing. “I don't think there is a survivor.”

11:00 am EST

Flight resumes landing in DCA. The first aircraft lands at the airport at 11:02 am

The Ministry of Land Security Bureau told Fox News Digital on Thursday morning that there was no fear of fear after the collision. Officials suspect that CRASH drop is just a tragedy.

Before the fatal collision, CRASH dropped on Tuesday in Alaska. Authorities said that the pilot was safely discharged from the aircraft and then the US Air Force F-35 fighter dropped CRASH.

According to the FAA, at least 238 deaths and 227 injuries due to the CRASH drop of non -combat aircraft since 2012.

Since 2023, there have been multiple “closed calls” incidents in DCA.
