Mayor Eric Adams traveled to Washington, D.C. on Wednesday night at the last minute, attending a prayer breakfast where President Trump made his remarks the following morning.
Adams is scheduled to attend the National Prayer Breakfast, the annual event in which the president, Congress members and other leaders will break bread in the country's capital and leave the city on Wednesday night, according to city hall.
His visit was for the third time in recent weeks for Adams, who faces allegations of corruption, and Trump is in the same room where the Democratic legal team has either won presidential pardon or reduced lawsuits. Sho.
Late last month, Hezoner skipped the Martin Luther King Jr. Day event in the city and instead went on an 11-hour trip to attend Trump's inauguration. He also traveled to Florida to meet Republicans in the days of María Lago before he took office.
Adams has been careful not to criticize Trump. This includes tariffs ordered by the president in Canada and Mexico before a temporary suspension was enacted this week. Trump admitted that his tariffs could cause “some pain” for Americans, but he insisted it was “worthy for all prices.”
A city hall spokesman dismissed Adams' attendance at his scheduled prayer breakfast. He pointed out that this was a bipartisan incident that several presidents, including former President Barack Obama, spoke about.
According to the event organizers, all presidents have attended breakfast since their launch in 1953 “regardless of parties or religious persuasion.”
However, according to his past schedule reviews, Adams will be attending the National Pree Plee Yashi Breakfast on Thursday.
It was not clear who invited Adams to the annual event. This is whether Trump's team was playing a role in bringing the mayor back to DC, combining religion and politics.

The Trump Department of Justice has launched a meeting between Adams' legal team and federal prosecutors in Manhattan.
Even if the DOJ moves to throw the case, the judge still needs to approve the request.
Trump previously said on the campaign trail he would think he's forgiven Adams for denying all wrongdoing.
According to the federal complaint, Hezoner has been accused of taking a bribe from foreigners in exchange for the bounty, including $123,000 on free flights and other retweet perks.
His corruption trial is fixed in April.
