Matthew, Kelly Stafford party in Cabo as Rams trade rumors swirl

Matthew Stafford enjoyed R&R with Cabo San Lucas's wife Kelly, as the buzz swirled around the next landing spot.

The Rams quarterback told the team he wanted to play next season, but his future in Los Angeles remains uncertain.

The couple went to Mexico along with former MLB player Trevor Plouffe and his wife Olivia and former NFL quarterback Jimmy Clausen and his wife Jess, as seen in the photo Kelly posted on her Instagram on Wednesday. I traveled only by my parents.

“I had time!” Jess wrote in her Instagram story.

The couple played golf, relaxed on the yacht and sipped cocktails on the beach.

Kelly gushed out on a trip earlier on last week's “Timeout” podcast.

The mother of four explained that she had heard rumors about Stafford's future and speculation that he could retire after 16 seasons.

“He wants to play in 2025. I'm excited. Kelly said before the quarterback comment that he's back to play next season. “He's still pretty I'm doing good things.

“It feels like he's become strange to his prime in many different areas, but we need to understand a lot before we can get there.”

Stafford's future in Los Angeles is uncertain, with the veteran taking on a team-high $49.6 million cap hit next season.

The Rams could save $27 million by trading him after June 1, or $23 million for cuts after June 1.

“I just want to continue playing good football.” Stafford told Forbes In an interview released on Wednesday. “I love to compete. Obviously, I get the opportunity to run in the playoffs and compete for the Lombardi trophy. If I taste, I want more. I love to play.”

Stafford played 16 games during the regular season without any major injuries.

Kelly said he played four cracked ribs against the snowy Philadelphia Eagles in the Division Round.

“I feel good, I'm pretty healthy after the season, I don't have any surgeries, I love competing,” Stafford said. “My family loves to watch me play. They want me to keep playing. They have it behind me and just get out there and compete with the teammates I have. It's a blessing to love to do it.”

After a brooding 1-4 start to the season, the Rams came out from Goodbye Week and won nine of their next 11 games to beat NFC West.

Stafford finished the season and threw 20 touchdowns against eight interceptions and one solid 93.7 passerby rating.

“I believe there's a part of him ready. [to retire] And the girls do things he doesn't want to miss,” Kelly said on her podcast. “And he's giving football a life. In the end, this will happen no matter what. If it's not this year, it could be next year. I think he had a great season. If he wants to go out for it, it's AF.
