After transporting the team to the playoffs, Saquon Barkley and Pat Surtain II were selected as the best players on the offensive and defensive side of the ball, respectively.
The running back signed a three-year contract with the Eagles in the offseason after their division rivals with the New York Giants chose to let him go.
Barkley would have probably had the record if he hadn't been in a hurry for 2,000 yards in a season and hadn't been sitting in week 18.

While this is technically a regular season award, Berkley is 30 yards away from setting a rushing yard record for most of the season, including the playoffs. In 19 games this season, including the postseason, Berkley was in a hurry for 2,447 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Of his 19 games, he has rushed over 100 times, overturning the 200-yard mark twice.
This is the first time a running back has won an award in consecutive seasons since 2005 and 2006 when Shaun Alexander and Radania's Tomlinson won hardware, respectively.
Surtain became the first defensive to win an award since Stephon Gilmore in 2019 after locking top receivers all season. Surtain chose four passes and returned them with an NFL high of 132 yards. He made three consecutive Pro Bowls and was named the first team All-Pro for the second time in three seasons.

The quarterback, who combined a passerby rating of 59.1 when throwing towards Surtain, is the third lowest mark in football behind Derek Stingley Jr. and Marlon Humphrey.
Surtain is the 12th award-winning cornerback.
