Boris Johnson was ‘one of most damaging PMs in history’, says Reform UK chair | Reform UK

According to the chairman of British Reform, Boris Johnson was “one of the most harmful ministers in the country's history.”

In an interview with BBC Radio 4 Political thinking Podcast, Zia Yusuf said Johnson was not welcome at his party.

“History judges Boris Johnson as one of the most harmful prime ministers in the history of the country,” he told host Nick Robinson.

The increase in net mobility in Johnson's premiership was “a complete betrayal of everyone who voted for Brexit,” Yusuf said. “He brought public spending closer to Soviet expenditures, so there was nothing conservative about him.”

But Yusuf said former Home Secretary Suela Braverman would be welcomed with British reforms. He said he had held several meetings with Braverman. He said he was “excommunicated” and made “paria” by conservatives.

Yusuf said the party could win “350-400 MPs” in the next general election after reforming YouGov's voter intentional vote earlier this week.

Reformed Britain was top of YouGov's poll with 25% support, compared to 24% labor and 21% Tories.

Speaking about the results of the vote on the BBC Radio 4 Political Thinking Podcast, Yusuf said his party thought “to win 350-400 MPs” in the next general election.

The party returned five lawmakers in the July general election, but came in second in 98 constituencies.

The results of YouGov were the latest in a series of polls that suggested that reforms had drawn and possibly overtaken the conservatives of public opinion.

Yusuf addressed concerns about Elon Musk, who provides donations to British reforms. Reform leader Nigel Farage met allies of Musk, Tesla, X and SpaceX owners, Donald Trump in December.

Yusuf told the podcast: He said the party was not a pressure group, but rather “to win here.”

Yusuf pushed forward to whether he wanted mask money, saying, “I know he is or not, but he makes a donation and that's within the rules and that's what we are. If you helped you win, why not?”
