Bud Light hasn’t recovered from Dylan Mulvaney controversy

Bud Light has yet to recover from the Dylan Mulvaney controversy, according to a former Anheuser-Busch executive.

“They don't have at all [recovered]”Anson Frericks, former president of Anheuser-Busch, said Tuesday in an interview with Fox Business's “Varney & Co.”

Despite companies retreating from promoting politics through DEI and ESG policies, the damage to Bud Light remains at the expense of “they keep their customers flowing,” Frericks said. I did.

The beer brand led to controversy in 2023 following a partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulbany.

The influencer tag team has caused consumer anger, reducing the value of sales, customers and shareholders.

Bud Light sales fell 29.9% year-on-year for the week ending January 20th, according to the latest figures provided to Fox Business by Bump Williams Consulting, which analyzed NielseniQ data.

“I think one of the most interesting parts of this story is that they lost 30% of their customers,” he pointed out. “In the past few years, we have millions of customers and billions of dollars in shareholder value.”

The former executive pointed out how the partnership affects stocks and how the brand's efforts to recover with Super Bowl ads do not relieve the pain.

“They promote Bad Light, and frankly, the commercials are actually pretty good,” he said. “They have Shane Gillis. He's against Dylan Mulbany. You probably couldn't have someone more against. They have post-Malone posts, but the problem is they It's losing many of their customers.”

He also pointed out the face of the dilemma Bad Light regarding that vision.

“Their customers are asking them: Will it be more than Shane Gillis and be fun with football, or is it Dylan Mulbany?”
