Border Patrol Not Targeting Schools, Busses, or Churches, Says Chief

Border Patrol officials issued a statement this week that the agents were not targeting schools, school buses or churches, finding illegal aliens and removing them. The statement follows false claims by teachers and others that agents are targeting school children.

“I want to be clear – USBP doesn't target schools, school buses, or churches,” Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks said in X.

“We are conducting immigration tests that US Border Patrol agents are targeting students at schools, churches, hospitals and more recently immigration checkpoints,” said Gloria Chavez, chief patrol agent for the Rio Grande Valley Sector. explained that it is spreading false information. This is completely wrong.”

The statement follows a letter of fear-like atmosphere to parents of Alice Independent School District superintendent Dr. Anisia Trevino, who oversees Alice Independent School District, saying, “US Border Patrol agents may be on school buses at highway checkpoints, both within and outside the valley. He misguided that he could not. Citizenship status. Trevino did not cite the source of her information in the letter.

“We strongly encourage families to recognize the potential implications of these encounters,” the letter continues. “If students are found to have no appropriate documentation, they could be removed from the bus, detained and deported presumably under current immigration policies.”

Trevino warned of the legal consequences of not having a legal status in the United States and the impact on the prospects of students' future citizenship if they lied to Border Patrol agents. They could be removed from the bus, detained and deported presumably under current immigration policies. Additionally, if students provide misinformation about citizenship and are later discovered, this could become a permanent bar for future U.S. citizenship. ”

The next day, Dr. Trevino sent another letter, admitting that he had no basis for the previous letter raising false concerns to his parents.

“We didn't have the US Customs and Border Patrol infiltrated/boarded the Alice ISD bus, but we have no knowledge of what's going on in other districts.”

“In fact, the second letter continues that key members of the U.S. Border Patrol show that school buses and children are not targeted.”

Trevino claimed that the first letter was sent “from a wealth of attention,” despite the fact that there is no practical basis for the terrifying letter sent on February 5th.

Breitbart Texas reached out to sources within customs and border security that say the tone of the letters indicate an intent to cause fear. “These checkpoints are located near the border longer than most people remember. We have hundreds of Border Patrol agents and CBP officials, and our children attend these schools. , we are all part of the same community. The Alice ISD administrators are very familiar with us and our families,” a source told Breitbart Texas.

“Bus that transports students to out-of-town sporting events and activities was not an enforcement goal, the source added. “Unless there is a specific information regarding the smuggling of contraband due to threats to the bus company or other individuals or students. , the inspection process at the Border Patrol checkpoint is going well. I think school district officials know this, but despite that fact, they chose to ignite the horrors of students.

Sources said families along the border are aware of enforcement activities at checkpoints as they have lived around them for decades. The source believes that ominous warnings have been added for effectiveness rather than beneficial value.
